Yoga originated in India more than 5000 years ago when many Indian sages and saints went on to explore the science of physical health combined with the resonance of spiritual energies in the lap of the Himalayas. Yoga is a way of life which helps in the stilling of fluctuations in the mind thereby bringing peace and patience. It is one of the six orthodox schools of Hindu philosophical traditions and has been described as a gateway to achieve divinity and acquire omniscient knowledge.
In the wake of celebrating the power of Yoga, International Day of Yoga is celebrated on the 21st of June, every year. With an aim to spread worldwide awareness of the many benefits of practicing Yoga, the theme for this year is Climate Action.
